I grew up surrounded by old BMWs, especially E30s, and set myself the task to modernize them: To bring back the image of a racecar for the streets, as they were seen in the 80s and early 90s
Recreating the E30
These first few pictures show the scale model I made from scratch, using pictures of the car for reference, and meticulously replicating the car as it is in its base form. I chose the Touring model because it's the one that I'm most familiar with, and grew up in the back seat of.
Modernisation + Performance Modifications
I then began to apply some modifications such as more modern headlights, an external Intercooler, LED fog lights, and later on also a lip spoiler on the rear. The idea was to make something cool out of the old car, before totally tearing it apart.
Major Body Modifications
The next step was a widebody kit, which made the car much wider and allowed for larger (and more modern) wheels. I also added a small diffuser and front lip. This was my favorite stage, and the one I prefer over the others, however, I wanted to push it further.
Extreme Modifications
In this final stage, I added a massive front splitter, extra air intakes in the bumper, venting in the bonnet, a side-exit straight-piped exhaust, large vented side-skirts, a large rear diffuser, and a massive LMP-style rear wing.
This concept is unnecessarily over-the-top but it was a lot of fun to make! The only improvement I could think to make would be to make it electric, but for the sake of the renders, that would remove the side-exit exhausts, so I left it as it was!
